Top tips on CRC
Registering organisational structure: some participant organisations have registered individually instead of as part of a group. It is essential that you get your organisational structure correct before registering. Refer to our guide Am I in? to determine how you should register.
Senior Officers: please provide the correct contact details for individuals with the appropriate authority i.e. those with management control of the Primary Member. For a company this should be a Director (registered on Companies House) for a public body or organisation of individuals they should be at an equivalent level, i.e. chief executive, board member, partner, chief constable, executive council member, trustee etc.
Excluded use: a large proportion of registrants are incorrectly claiming excluded uses normally because of a misunderstanding that all transport emissions are excluded. This is not the case. The only organisations that should be claiming excluded use are those with half hourly metered electricity supplied in 2008 used for the excluded uses set out within annex 2 of our guide Am I in?
Mandated Participants: only Central Government Departments or those organisations who have been specifically named by law to take part should register as Mandated Participants. All other organisations should make an information disclosure or register as a participant depending on their energy supply during the qualification period.
KWh vs MWh: some organisations have incorrectly provided KWh figures for supply rather than the required MWh. Please ensure that you provide your energy supply figures in MWh.
Making changes to your registration: we are currently producing guidance on how to make changes to your details once you have completed your registration. This will be available shortly on our CRC webpages. Contact details can be changed as soon as you have enrolled and completed your registration. To make any other changes to your registration please contact us.
